Give your community
a weekly video call.
Start a channel for your subreddit, Discord server or club, schedule a conversation that repeats every week, and post one link.
- 1
Start a channel
Name it after your community. It is live for your members straight away, and you run it.
- 2
Schedule a weekly conversation
Pick a weekday and a time. Every week gets its own page, its own link and a reminder.
- 3
Keep the people
Members see a profile and rating before each call, and add the ones they would talk to again.
Why a comment thread is not enough
Most online communities only ever meet in writing. Threads are good for questions and terrible for getting to know anyone: the same twenty usernames talk past each other for years and never hear a voice.
A conversation at the same time every week changes that. People who would never start a call on their own will turn up to one that is already planned, and the ones who come twice start to recognise each other.
What your members get
A page for every conversation, with a live countdown, a calendar file and a reminder before it starts. They say they are going in one tap, and the room opens on the dot.
Between the weekly calls the channel keeps working. Anyone on it can be matched one-on-one with another member who is looking at the same time, and subscribers are told the moment somebody starts looking.
Before any call opens, both sides see a profile and a rating from earlier conversations. Nobody is dropped into a stranger’s camera, and anyone can block, report or leave in one click.
How to bring your community over
Post the link to the next conversation, not to the channel. “Thursday at 19:00, voice and video, link inside” gets far more clicks than a new place to sign up for.
Pin it in your subreddit or Discord, put it in the sidebar, and post it again the day before. Every link shows a preview card with the title and the time.
Turn up yourself, every week, for the first month. A channel with a host who is always there grows; one that waits for members to start things usually does not.
What it costs
Nothing. It runs in the browser, there is nothing to install, and there is no password: members get a sign-in link by email.
Pertanyaan
How many people fit in one conversation?
A group conversation holds up to six people. You can also schedule one-on-one conversations, and between events members are matched in pairs or small groups.
Do my members need an account?
Yes. It takes an email address and a few questions about languages and interests. Every member must be 18 or over.
Can I moderate my channel?
Yes. Whoever starts a channel owns it and can appoint moderators. Everyone can block and report, and reports reach the site’s own moderators as well.
Will my channel show up in search engines?
It is live for members as soon as you create it. It appears in search engines once a moderator has looked at it.
Can the conversation repeat by itself?
Yes. Set it to repeat every week on its weekday, or every weekday. Only the next one is ever on the calendar, and a series nobody comes to twice in a row stops by itself.
